El Sayed Gendy, 56, of Pottstown was the motorist fatally injured last weekend when his vehicle struck a tree along Route 662 in Amity Township, Berks County Coroner Matthew J. Stitzel said Friday.
Gendy lost control of the vehicle shortly after 6 a.m. on June 28 in the 1800 block of Old Swede Road, which is Route 662, police said. He was the sole occupant.
He was freed from the wreckage by emergency responders and taken to Reading Hospital, where an emergency department physician pronounced him dead at 7:10 a.m.
He died of head and chest injuries, and the death was ruled accidental by the coroner’s office.
Gendy was the 25th fatality on Berks roads this year.
