Delaney Naylor says she is lucky to be alive after being struck by a vehicle and assaulted in a violent incident on Thursday in Bullskin Township, Pennsylvania. “I could’ve been killed and my daughters wouldn’t have had a mother, and nobody was thinking that at the time,” Naylor said. Pennsylvania State Police said they responded to Kreinbrook Hill Road shortly before 11:30 a.m. for a reported vehicle crash involving a pedestrian and a residence. The pedestrian was Naylor, and the residence belonged to Dakota Yealey. “He pulled in the driveway, demanding for his daughter, and I was like, he’s not allowed on this property,” Yealey said. An argument broke out between Naylor, Yealey, and the suspect, Tyler Sanders, which quickly escalated. “Well, as soon as I got to like this point a little bit before me and the grass, I heard the car engine rev, and it headed straight toward me,” Naylor said. She described the moment she was struck. “That’s when I went flying in the air, and all I seen was just the blue sky.” State police said their investigation determined Sanders intentionally drove his vehicle at Naylor, then backed the vehicle into the front door of the residence, forced entry, and continued the altercation. “Got out the driver side window, came running in, tackled Delaney, hit her twice, and I picked him up and I beat him up as a man should in that situation,” Yealey said. Naylor added, “I don’t know, he like jumped on me and then he assaulted me in the face twice.” Reflecting on the incident, Naylor said, “I think that I was just more shocked that I was just hit by a vehicle.” Naylor was transported to Uniontown Hospital and later to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, where she was released Friday morning. She suffered a sprained ankle and a liver laceration. “A lot of emotion. I think I cried a lot yesterday, so I really don’t have much to cry,” Naylor said. Yealey’s property sustained significant damage during the incident. “There’s better ways to handle things like that than destroy people’s property and hit women,” Yealey said. Police also charged Sanders’s mother, Michelle Pritts, in connection with the incident. She faces charges including resisting arrest and interfering with emergency personnel. Pritts disputed the charges. “I was just there trying to give information to the police officer about how and why this all happened yesterday,” Pritts said. While Pritts said she does not condone her son’s actions, she claimed he suffers from mental health issues and was provoked. “Mental health is real, mental health is really, really real, and if you don’t get help, things like this happen. So you’re saying you don’t condone what Tyler did in the same sentence. I don’t condone. I’m highly upset with my son. I am. I do believe he knows it,” Pritts said. “For him to be provoked, and to all of this happening, was wrong,” she added. Sanders is facing multiple charges, including attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of children. Bail was denied Thursday, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 14.
