FIFA will feature a lineup of local artists as part of the July 4 Round of 16 game at Lincoln Financial Field in the World Cup.
Before France and Paraguay square off for a spot in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m., Tony Award winner Idina Menzel will sing the national anthem. The pregame festivities will start about a half-hour before kickoff, leading into the announcement of lineups, the procession of teams and flags and the national anthems of the participating nations.
The Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale will perform “America the Beautiful,” and Philadelphia’s The Roots will also perform.
Pregame ceremonies includes an appearance from Stephanie Skinner, Miss Pennsylvania; a tifo card display; and a flyover from VFA-11 and VFA-81 squadrons housed at the Naval Air Station Oceania in Virginia Beach.
At halftime, DJ Jazzy Jeff will provide entertainment.
Gates will open at 2 p.m., and FIFA is encouraging early entry given the stiflingly hot conditions that are forecast.
Fans will be allowed to bring in one, 20-ounce, factory-sealed disposable water bottle to the stadium, with water fountains available at nine locations on the concourses.
