The City of Philadelphia will be on full display in all facets of the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The All-Star roster is no different as the Phillies led all of baseball with five players on the roster this season.
Brandon Marsh will join Andy Pages and Juan Soto as the starting outfield for the National League while Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber will join the ranks of the NL’s reserves.
Cristopher Sánchez and Jhoan Duran will represent the Phillies’ interest on the NL pitching staff with Duran setup to potentially close in his home stadium.
Rewind to April 2025 and you would be hard-pressed to find a fan that thought Brandon Marsh would be an All-Star one day. He started the year in a slump of epic proportions, including an 0-for-31 streak. After returning from the Injured List in early May, however, he turned that season around, ending the year with a career-high .280 batting average.
This season, Marsh took it to another level, leading the team with a .315 average and the fifth most hits in all of Major League Baseball. Since the Phillies traded for Marsh in August 2022, he has been a consistent piece in the outfield puzzle and has become a fan-favorite over the past four years. Now, the fans have given him the honor of representing Philadelphia as their starter in his first All-Star Game.
While Kyle Schwarber had no chance at getting the starting bid at designated hitter simply because of the existence of Shohei Ohtani, the slugger has just as much of a right to be in the game as his Japanese cohort. Leading all of baseball with 30 home runs, Schwarber could potentially drop 60 bombs by the end of season, coinciding with his 400th career home run in the process.
The slugging prowess that once was thought to hit its peak in June is now a season-long festival for the 33-year-old designated hitter. So long as Schwarber wants to, there should be no question as to who the Phillies’ representative will be in the Home Run Derby as Schwarber prepares for his fourth-career All-Star appearance.
What would an All-Star Game in Philadelphia be without Bryce Harper? The outfielder turned first baseman sits at the heart and soul of everything that is this current Phillies team. The two-time MVP has spent the season silencing any “not elite” talks that remained in the offseason, hitting 20 home runs and leading the team with 56 runs scored and 57 RBI on the year.
This will be the ninth All-Star nod for Harper as the captain of Philadelphia will play the perfect host as the All-Star Game returns to Philadelphia.
Harper was dubbed the “legends pick”, meaning he was hand-picked by commissioner Rob Manfred for the All-Star Game.
Cristopher Sánchez is perhaps the best pitcher in Major League Baseball to not be nationally recognized. Finishing second to Paul Skenes in the 2025 NL Cy Young race and now coming up short to Jacob Misiorowski for NL starter, Sánchez will continue to play under the radar while mowing down batters across the league.

Leading the league with 117 innings pitched and a 5.91 SO/BB, there is no doubt he belongs at the All-Star Game. Most recently, Sánchez dominated the Pirates, keeping them scoreless through seven innings with just three hits while striking out nine. The ace of the Phillies’ staff has earned his second All-Star nomination and will now play his part on the National League staff on the biggest stage.
The back end of the Phillies’ bullpen has felt different since Jhoan Duran arrived last season. In just under a full season with the Phillies, Duran has recorded 37 saves. A National League-leading 21 saves this season, Duran was just named National League Reliever of the Month for June.
Phillies fans have grown accustomed to the fanfare of the Durantula’s entrance in the ninth inning at Citizens Bank Park. If the National League is ahead, expect to see the entrance that originated in the American League to be used against them as he enters to close the game for his new city.
Worth noting as well Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast’s own Kevin McGonigle has been named to his first All-Star Game for the American League.
While he will play for the opposing club, no doubt the City of Philadelphia will support one of its own as McGonigle plays in his first All-Star Game in a stadium he grew up going to.
