Fountain Hill Borough Council is considering a 2026 borough budget that could mean another significant tax increase for residents.

According to the agenda for council’s Monday, Nov. 3 meeting, council is scheduled to vote to increase the real estate tax from 10.61 mills to 11.61 mills.

A year ago, council approved increasing the real estate tax imposed on property owners in the borough from 9.61 to 10.61 mills.

According to the Lehigh County Office of Assessment, in Lehigh County only the city of Allentown and Catasauqua borough currently have higher municipal millage rates than Fountain Hill, which is home to nearly 5,000 people. A large percentage of the borough’s land mass is owned by St. Luke’s University Health Network and is tax-exempt. With few commercial entities operating in Fountain Hill, the property tax burden has increasingly fallen on the shoulders of residents who own their homes.

Assuming that the proposed 2026 budget is approved, it will be advertised, with a final vote on it scheduled for early December.

Council’s regular meeting Monday will begin at 7 p.m., and will be preceded by a budget meeting at 6 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public and will be held in the meeting room at Fountain Hill Borough Hall, 941 Long St., Fountain Hill. The 7 p.m. regular meeting will be livestreamed on the borough’s Facebook page.
