Kelleys Island police urge residents to conserve water

KELLEYS ISLAND — Rain showers Sunday night into Monday morning are causing flooding issues on Kelleys Island.

The Village of Kelleys Island Police Department said the island received approximately 15 inches of rain, and it’s asking residents to conserve water usage until further notice. The department said it’ll help get levels and pumps working back to normal.

Additionally, the rain has caused a lot of flooding, including on W. Lakeshore, which is impassable between 127 and 135 W. Lakeshore.

Kelleys Island is under a Flood Advisory until 10 a.m. on Monday. It was previously a Flash Flood Warning, but that has since expired.

“Due to the last nights rain, there are numerous flooded roads and trees or limbs down. We ask that if you’re traveling on the island you proceed with caution,” the police department said.

Kelleys Island Ferry is still running. The first boat off Kelleys Island was at 6:30 a.m., and the first boat off Marblehead was at 7 a.m.
