IronPigs to temporarily become ‘Pitties’ to raise dog rescue awareness in August  | Allentown Area

ALLENTOWN, Pa.- The LV IronPigs will take on an alternate identity as the ‘Pitties’ on Aug. 11. 

The Pitties will face off against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at Coca-Cola Park at 6:45 p.m. to raise awareness for local dog shelters and agencies, the IronPigs said in a news release. 

The IronPigs will wear custom jerseys and hats to honor Duke’s Delites Dog Adoption Night and a Tail Waggin’ Day presented by Abby Road Veterinary Hospital, according to the report. 

Officials said the game will feature dogs available for adoption and “Mutts Gone Nuts” and “Casey the Bat Dog,” two dog acts. 

The first 1,500 adults ages 18 and over will receive a collapsible dog bowl, according to the release. 

The IronPigs said the game-worn jerseys will be auctioned, and caps raffled off with proceeds being split with local animal rescue, Pals for Life.  

The auction will open on Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. and close on Aug. 13 at 4 p.m., according to the release. 

Officials said attendants can bid by texting “IRONPIGS” to 76278.
