A longstanding Erie tradition dedicated to creating memorable experiences for individuals with disabilities and those facing life challenges will return later this month as the Erie Yacht Club hosts the 34th annual Frolic on the Bay.
The event is scheduled for July 13, 2026, at the Erie Yacht Club. Volunteers and boat skippers are asked to report by 9:45 a.m., with event activities running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A rain date has been set for July 20.
For over three decades, the Erie Yacht Club, along with community supporters, has provided free boat rides on Presque Isle Bay, a picnic lunch and entertainment for hundreds of individuals with physical disabilities, chronic conditions and those from disadvantaged situations.
Several local organizations are expected to participate in this year’s event, including the Barber National Institute, Hope on Horseback, L’Arche, Make-A-Wish, Mercy Center for Women and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring guests enjoy a day of recreation and fellowship on the water. The event concludes with a social gathering for skippers and volunteers featuring refreshments and snacks.
