OBITUARY
Our beloved Catherine Jeanne Barrett, affectionately known as GG, passed away peacefully at the age of 89, leaving behind a lifetime of love, compassion, and unforgettable memories. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John J. And Catherine M. Ganz Duffy. She was preceded in death by her husbands Donald Covey and Raymond Barrett.
For over 60 years she dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse. She had a heart for helping people and touched the lives of countless family members, friends, and strangers with her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit. GG was a devoted Catholic who said her rosaries and prayers daily.
Above all, Catherine cherished her family. She was a devoted mother to her one daughter, Jacqueline McDonnell, who gave her 6 grandchildren. Jason Flynn (Jennifer), Kathryn Russo (Marc), Shauna Flynn (Lee Anthony), Eli Zachariah Spindler, Leo Spindler, and Suzanne Kester. She was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren, Lee Anthony Jr, Thomas Sean, Gianna, Marc, Chloe, Kylan, Enzo, and Harper who will never forget their GG. She will be greatly missed and forever loved. She also loved her several four legged friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., by Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay, Pastor. Inurnment Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday morning at the church from 9 to 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Society.
