BERKS COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A Pennsylvania man was arrested after police seized several pounds of methamphetamine and more than $10,000 from apartments in Reading.

Kyle Lamar Lane, 33, of Reading, was taken into custody Monday after he tried to run away from officers who had just searched the apartments at 351 South 5th St., according to a press release from the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.

During the search, officers said they found three pounds of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, packaging materials commonly used to package bulk methamphetamine for street sales, and $10,543 believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Then, while conducting surveillance, officers saw Lane leave the home and walk into the 500 block of Bingaman Street. He allegedly tried to run from officers, at which point he dicarded a cellphone and a pound of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

The estimated street value of the seized methamphetamine is around $54,000, according to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office

Lane is now charged with possession with intent to delivery a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“This case reflects the continued commitment and teamwork of the Berks County Drug Task Force in combating the distribution of methamphetamine throughout our community,” District Attorney John Adams said. “Seizing bulk quantities of methamphetamine, along with the tools used to process and package these dangerous narcotics, disrupts drug trafficking operations and helps make Berks County a safer place to live and work.”

Lane’s bail was set at $200,000.

The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (610) 478-7171.
