Richard ‘Rick’ Jones
OBITUARY
Richard Rick Jones, 74, of Tingley Lake, Harford PA, passed away Friday morning July 3, 2026. Born in Scranton, he was the son of Richard Jones and Gertrude Edwards Jones. Rick is survived by his loving wife, Karen Cerep Jones, to whom he was married nearly 52 years.
Rick was a graduate of West Scranton High School and an alum of Penn State University, home of his favorite football team, the Nittany Lions.
Before retirement, Rick was employed by Jacobson Hat Company where he was an Import Manager. He had an intelligent, practical, and forward-thinking business sense throughout his life. Each morning began with business news and stock ticker tapes rolling across the TV screen.
In younger years, Rick loved to fish in his beloved Tingley Lake and on vacation in other lakes or in the ocean. Later years, he preferred to look out at the lake and enjoy nature and the boats going by.
Rick’s family was at the heart of his life. He was a loving, loyal supporter of his wife, children, and grandchildren, rejoicing quietly in their achievements and character and talking of how proud he was of them.
Beside his wife, Karen, Rick is survived by his children daughters Lisa Jones (State College) and Heather Nelson (Forty Fort), son Richard (Caitlin) Jones (Tunkhannock), grandsons William Heiss and David Nelson, sister Sandra Evans and many cherished family and friends. He was preceded in death by parents Richard and Gertrude (Edwards) Jones, brother Edmund Jones, and sister Sharon Jones.
At Rick’s request, there will be a small service at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home and gravesite for the family.
