LEHIGH CO., Pa. – It is a birthday so big it’s being celebrated this whole year.
America is now 250 years old, and one baby born at a St. Luke’s in Lehigh County decided he wanted to join in on the celebration.
Tristan Robert decided to make a grand entrance of his own.
“Definitely different than we planned but we have a little firework baby now,” said Lindsay Dotter.
Born nearly two weeks early, the tiny tot was born on a very special fourth of July. His birth coinciding with the country’s 250th birthday.
“When we did come up here to the recovery room, I saw some fireworks going off in the distance. I’m like, oh, that’s cool. Happy 4th and happy birthday to him,” Dotter said.
The holiday is about more than fireworks to the nation and to this growing family.
“It is a special holiday to me because the 4th of July was my brother’s favorite holiday, which is why we gave him the middle name Robert,” said Devin Pendergast.
While it has been 14 years since Robert passed away from cancer, his legacy now living on through the next generation.
“My whole thing is I still believe he’s here with us. So I was like, he’s given me what he wanted because he always said he wanted to have a baby on the fourth of July. So, I guess he just blessed us with that,” said Pendergast.
For Tristan and his family, July 4th will always be a day to celebrate, for more reasons than one.
