Steven Silva said he has been without power since Friday after a storm moved through the area of his Pocono Township home.
“It was just something that was fast and it just shows that we wasn’t even prepared for it,” said Silva.
Silva said he bought a generator on Saturday and has spent more than $100 on gas for it. He tells us he lost about $1,000 in refrigerated food too.
“Frustrating eating canned food, using gallons of water to bathe, take baths you know and it’s just horrible,” said Silva.
In the Lehigh Valley, power crews have been working around the clock.
Joseph Light with Lehigh County Emergency Management said Alburtis and Upper Milford Township were some of the hardest hit areas. The county said you can report damage on the Emergency Management website.
“We encourage the residents who do use that self-reporting tool to take lots of photos of all the damage,” said Light.
The county has been out assessing damage too.
“So that is done to mainly grasp, get a quick synopsis of what happened at each residence because there’s so many residences out there that did sustain damage,” said Light.
As for Silva, he said he is ready to get things back to normal.
“I just want to be able to turn my lights on again,” Silva said.
