Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Braxton Ashcraft selected for All-Star Game
Since spring training, you’ve been saying the Pirates are *** 500 team here. We are at the end of June now and they are 42-42. What are your expectations here for the second half of the season, and does this bullpen give you stomach ulcers? Is that what that is? Yeah, yeah, it does, and my expectations are for *** lot of the same. I think this will continue to be *** team that hovers around 500, and I do think that the bullpen will continue to be *** struggle unless it’s addressed and they get *** few more arms that they can play with. I think the one thing that will determine how much of *** buyer or *** seller that they want to be at the deadline will be not just their own level of play, but also that of those around them in the wild. Car race, particularly those teams that they’re vying against for that last spot right now. It can’t just be about the Pirates and what they do to try to tread water and stay around 500. It’s if you’re looking at the end of July and 500 is good enough to still be in consideration for that last slot or one of the three if the rest of the pack comes down to them, but that might be asking *** lot at this point.
