A Reading man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy in a Kenhorst home in the spring.
Matthew D. Anoka, 31, was taken into custody Tuesday by Berks County detectives at his city residence. Following video arraignment Tuesday afternoon before District Judge David L. Yoch, he was committed to Berks County Jail to await a hearing after the judge denied bail.
He is charged with rape of a child, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault and related counts.
According to investigators:
In May, detectives with the district attorney’s office received Childline referrals from the state Department of Human Services. The reports alleged a 7-year-old boy was the victim of sexual abuse.
Later that month, a forensic interview was conducted with the boy at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center. He disclosed that Anoka had sexually abused him and shown him sexually explicit pictures and videos.
The investigation determined that the abuse incidents occurred in April in a Kenhorst residence that is known to investigators.
