On July 7 Presque Isle State Park placed a swimming restriction at Beach 9 due to high levels of E. coli found during routine testing.
On July 8 at 8:37 a.m. the water at Beach 9 was tested again and the park has since lifted the restriction. During these swimming restrictions it is important that visitors make sure to stay out of the water.
The park has released this information to inform beach goers:
Avoid swallowing lake water.
Wash your hands before handling food.
Avoid swimming with an open cut or wound, or if you are experiencing an illness.
Minimize water contact if lake levels are high, heavy rains have just ended, or strong winds are blowing from the west.
