KENHORST, Pa. – The Berks County District Attorney’s Office is accusing a Reading man of raping a seven-year-old boy.
Matthew D. Anoka, 31, is charged with Rape of a Child, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Unlawful Contact with a Minor, Endangering Welfare of Children, Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure, and Corruption of Minors, the county DA’s office said in a news release.
In May of 2026, the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives received multiple Childline Referrals from the Department of Human Services, Commonwealth of PA, which reported that a 7-year-old child was the victim of sexual abuse, the DA’s office said.
Later that month, authorities conducted a forensic Interview with the 7-year-old victim at the Berks County Children’s Alliance Center in Reading, according to the DA’s office.
During the interview, the child said Anoka had sexually abused him and had shown him sexually explicit pictures and videos, according to the news release.
The investigation determined that the sexual abuse happened in April 2026 at a home in the 1100 block of Commonwealth Boulevard in Kenhorst Borough, the DA’s office said.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Anoka Tuesday. The DA’s office said he was taken into custody by members of the Berks County Detectives at his home in Reading and taken to the Berks County Sheriffs Central Processing Center.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David L. Yoch. He was committed to the Berks County Jail after Yoch denied bail.
