BUFFALO, N.Y. (KTRE) – Former Central Heights Blue Devil Duke Ellis hit his fourth home run of the season in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s 18-3 win over Buffalo on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old stole a base, giving him a team-high 35 this season and putting him one behind the league leader.
Ellis started in left field and batted eighth. He went 2-for-4 with two walks, two RBI and two runs. In the fourth inning, Ellis reached base following a walk. He stole second base and was stranded at third base to end the inning. In the sixth inning, after a walk to Ernesto Martinez Jr., Ellis hit a two-run home run over the right-field wall, giving the RailRiders a 7-1 lead. In the ninth inning, Ellis singled on a line drive and came in to score later on a line drive by Yanquiel Fernandez.
This season, Ellis is hitting .237 with 15 RBI and 36 runs.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (45-41) continues its series against Buffalo (42-46) on Wednesday.
