READING, Pa.- The governor’s administration visited Reading to celebrate the expansion of an engineering plastics company.
“We’ve seen real progress here in Reading these last few years,” says PA Secretary of Community and Economic Development Rick Siger.
He attended an event celebrating Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Material’s major expansion project.
“When a company like this expands, it’s a real boost to the local economy,” says Siger. “Not just for the folks that work here, but the indirect and induced benefits all across our community. It sends a signal that Pennsylvania continues to be open for business.”
The company is investing more than $20 million into the community and creating over 40 new jobs. They’re hoping the building currently under construction will be operational by the end of 2026.
“Mitsubishi acquired the company about ten years ago and we found workforce capabilities and the opportunities in Pennsylvania are very exciting and so as we looked to expand our U-S footprint, this was a natural choice,” says president, Dan Barish.
He says the expansion will allow the company to better serve customers globally…
“A key element of this investment is creating a center of excellence for extrusion of our general and advanced engineer plastics,” says Barish.
“The custom components that are made here are used in a really broad range of industries from aerospace to automotive to medical and electronics,” says Siger.
The jobs created will range from engineering to operations and technicians.
