Byron Paul Miller

OBITUARY

Byron Paul Miller, 64, of Scranton, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Geisinger Community Medical Center.

Born in Scranton on July 24, 1961, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Jane (Martin) Miller. For 33 wonderful years, Byron shared his life, his heart, and his home with his beloved partner, Frances Welch. They enjoyed a life full of love and joy. She was his faithful companion through good and bad and was his greatest source of strength throughout his courageous battle.

Byron was a deeply devoted family man who always went above and beyond for those he loved. Blessed with a sharp wit and a compassionate soul, you could always count on him to crack a joke when you were feeling down, lend a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or a heart to help carry your grief. He possessed a vibrant, creative spirit and loved spending time in his craft room, meticulously creating beautiful keepsakes for his family and friends. An excellent cook and baker, Byron was also exceptionally handy-he never met a car he didnt think he could fix, proudly serving as the trusted family mechanic.

In addition to his partner, Frances, he is survived by his children: his daughter, Jessica Welch (Jason Marsico), his stepdaughter, Ashley (Mulhearn) Strackbein (Don), and Marlana Manetti. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Donny, Madison, Christian, Layla, Aaron, and Markeitha.

Byron is also survived by his seven siblings: Thomas, Martin, Michael (Jennifer), David (Betty Jo), Christopher, Sharon Miller, and Doreen (Eric) Mitchell. And many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Byron was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Miller, and his beloved nephews, Thomas Miller and Shane Seymour.

His family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Their compassion, dedication, and gentle care provided immense comfort to Byron and his loved ones during his final days. Per Byron’s request, there will be no funeral services.
