Upper Darby officials announced street parking restrictions starting Thursday as HBO’s “Task” begins filming across the Philadelphia region.

In a video posted on YouTube, Upper Darby Township’s Public Information Officer Rob Ellis said street parking will be temporarily restricted on select blocks to support equipment and production vehicles of an “award-winning series.”

While Upper Darby officials did not specifically name the series, multiple outlets have reported that HBO’s “Task,” starring Mark Ruffalo, has begun filming across the Philadelphia region. On Thursday, NBC10 saw the production crew on set in Manayunk.

According to Upper Darby officials, “no parking” zones will be indicated by traffic cones and signage. In addition, intermittent street closures are possible.

“We ask that residents move their vehicles off the streets indicated prior to arrival,” officials said. “Theatrical lighting will be present during the night, but lighting will be non-invasive for local residents.”

Vehicles parked in “no parking” zones will be towed at the owner’s expense.

In late April, a local casting company said it was seeking bilingual Latino talent for the production.

The first season of “Task” came out in 2025 starring Mark Ruffalo, who plays Agent Tom Brandis. The show follows Ruffalo, an FBI agent, who heads a task force to apprehend criminals.

According to the casting company, season two will follow Ruffalo’s return as Agent Brandis who takes the helm of a new task force. However, the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who’s the target.

Mahershala Ali will play Eddie Barnes, a seasoned and well-respected DEA agent in Philadelphia whose team comes into conflict with Tom’s unit, the casting company said.
