HANOVER TWP., Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a four-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Route 22 that left one person dead.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. May 30 on Route 22 West in Hanover Township, Northampton County, police said in a news release Thursday.

Donna Glazik, 63, of Allentown, died from her injuries at the hospital, according to officials.

Police said Glazik went into cardiac arrest after her vehicle was rear-ended. The force of the impact pushed Glazik’s car into the vehicle ahead of it.

Emergency medical responders evaluated Glazik at the scene before transporting her to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg for emergency surgery. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was placed in the intensive care unit, where she later died, officials said.

Police said the driver who rear-ended Glazik was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, based on preliminary breath and blood tests.

State Police Troop M in Bethlehem continues to investigate.
