WHEN YOU GO TO 511PA, YOU CAN PUT IN YOUR START AND END POINT AND IN REAL TIME IT GIVES YOU REAL TIME DRIVE TIMES ON MAJOR DETOUR ROUTES. IT ALSO HELPS YOU COMPARE LOCAL AND INTERSTATE ROUTES SIDE BY SIDE. MORE THAN 100,000 CARS ARE EXPECTED TO FEEL THE IMPACTS OF 25 CLOSURE. MANY BUSINESSES ARE TAKING STEPS TO PREPARE FOR THE INCREASE IN TRAFFIC ON DETOUR ROUTES. THE POTENTIAL LACK OF FOOT TRAFFIC, AND HOW DIFFICULT IT COULD GET FOR THEIR STAFF TO GET TO WORK, PENNDOT SAID. COMMUNICATION IS ALSO GOING TO BE KEY FOR FIRST RESPONDERS TO NAVIGATE THIS CLOSURE. How long will it take you to get to your destination without the Parkway East and Commercial Street Bridge? A specialized 511 PA website has been launched to help travelers navigate the closure.Once you open the above link, it will open to the Commercial Street Bridge detours. Navigate over to the “My Routes” tab and enter your starting point and destination. Once you enter, it will give you routes that include a total travel time and travel distance. Interstate 376 (Parkway East) will shut down for 25 days between the Squirrel Hill Tunnel and Edgewood-Swissvale exits starting at 9 p.m. It is still open at this time.
