Bethlehem police say they’re investigating how a pedestrian ended up critically injured in the middle of a major road early Thursday morning.
Police were called to the 2400 block of Linden Street at about 4:13 a.m. for a report of a vehicle that hit a pedestrian. When they arrived, a 31-year-old man was found with serious injuries lying in the northbound lane of the road, according to a police news release.
The man was taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, police said.
The police department’s accident reconstruction team is trying to determine the man’s movements leading up to the incident. Police believe the man may have already been lying in the road, and implied that the vehicle involved may have ran over him, according to the news release.
No damage was found to the front bumper, grille, hood or or windshield of the involved vehicle; however, the vehicle’s undercarriage did sustain damage, police noted.
Police are asking residents in the area to share video camera footage that may have captured the man before the incident. They are also asking anyone who may have witnessed the man walking in the area, or the collision itself, to come forward.
