Historic Bethlehem will transform into a street festival Sunday, July 12, as the community celebrates America’s semiquincentennial with live music, food vendors and family activities.
The America250: A Bethlehem Block Party is scheduled to run from noon to 5 p.m. along Main and West Broad streets, marking both the nation’s 250th anniversary and Central Moravian Church’s 275th anniversary.
The event is organized in partnership with the City of Bethlehem and Northside Alive, a community revitalization initiative of the city and Community Action Development Corp. of Bethlehem.
Multiple stages will feature continuous entertainment throughout the afternoon. Life After Dead will perform from 1 to 4 p.m. on the 1 W. Broad St. stage, while Twelve String takes the ESU stage near West Broad and Guetter streets from noon to 1 p.m. and again from 4 to 5 p.m. DJ Dannyboy will provide music along Main Street for the event’s duration.
The Central Moravian Church Green will host a rotating schedule of performances, starting with The Edge Band at noon, followed by East Hills Praise Band at 1 p.m., The Gate Band at 2 p.m. and The Stank Factory led by Patrick Kerssen at 3 p.m.
Food will be available from Edge Restaurant, 515 Main Sports Club and Central Moravian Church. The Melting Pot of Bethlehem and McCarthy’s Red Stag Pub & Whiskey Bar will operate outdoor bars.
Family activities include face painting, a balloon artist and a car show on Main Street. More than a dozen vendors plan to participate in the street fair, including Aardvark Sports Shop, Bethlehem Christmas Shoppe & Hand Cut Crystal, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Shop, CapturedLV Escape Room and Franklin Hill Vineyards.
Many merchants are offering special discounts tied to the Revolutionary War era. Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Shop will sell all bags of coffee for $17.76, while AM Luxe Apparel will take $17.76 off regular-priced items. The Melting Pot of Bethlehem will discount all food by 25%.
Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites will provide live demonstrations outside the 1750 Smithy, offer free Moravian Museum admission and discount Bethlehem & the Revolution tours.
