A neighborhood gazebo in Erie is getting a burst of color this weekend as the Sisters of St. Joseph and the City of Erie turn Washington Park into a community canvas.
Kids rolled up their sleeves for a “Paint in the Park” project — a large paint-by-numbers mural covering the floor of the Washington Park gazebo.
They created bright, wide-angle visuals as they transformed the gazebo with neighborhood pride and revitalization.
“This is a chance for the youth to experiment, to have fun, and to learn skills at the same time and learn to express themselves. That’s really more important than anything.” Brad Ford, the gallerist shared.
The collaborative installation was led by Ford, who says the goal is to make public art accessible to everyone, with no experience required.
