(WBRE/WYOU) — State police released the results of their 2026 July 4th holiday checkpoint enforcement that resulted in over 300 DUI arrests.
The Pennsylvania State Police reported they investigated 635 vehicle crashes during the holiday weekend from July 3 to 5.
Police say six people died and 128 injuries occurred in the crashes, while 55 non-fatal crashes involved a driver under the influence. Troopers arrested 303 people for driving under the influence.
State police also issued 4,043 speeding citations, 541 for failing to wear a seat belt, and 97 for not securing children in safety seats.

DUI offenses can range from a $300 fine with six months of probation to fines of $5,000 with prison sentences of up to five years.
