The first member of Auburn baseball’s 2026 roster is off the board of the MLB draft.
Auburn second baseman Chris Rembert was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in round two of the 2026 MLB Draft on Saturday, going No. 51 overall. He is the first Auburn Tiger selected in the 2026 MLB Draft and the second player with Auburn ties selected, joining 2026 signee Coleman Borthwick, who went No. 21 overall to the San Diego Padres.
The approximate slot value for being selected No. 51 overall is $1.94 million, according to MLB.com, which is a great value for one of the top pieces of Auburn’s lineup over the last two seasons.
The sophomore from Pensacola, Florida, hit .344 over two seasons at Auburn with 14 home runs, 92 RBI, and 42 total extra-base hits. As a fielder, Rembert fielded at a 0.974 clip with 145 putouts and 191 assists while committing just nine errors over 115 career games.
Several Auburn players to keep an eye on as the MLB draft continues over the weekend include third baseman Eric Guevara, shortstop Brandon McCraine, and pitchers Alex Petrovic and Ryan Hetzler. Guevara is the next highest-rated Auburn Tiger eligible for the draft, checking in at No. 209, with McCrane next in line at No. 222.
