A serious crash at the roadside stand of Mason Farms in Lake City left multiple people injured Saturday after a vehicle struck the popular farm market and its customers.
According to sources at the farm, a driver traveling west on West Lake Road crashed into the farm stand, hitting customers and causing extensive damage to the structure.
First responders from Lake City Volunteer Fire Department said that four people were transported to the hospital from the scene. Authorities said some victims were flown by medical helicopter, while others were taken by ambulance.
Among those hospitalized was the driver of the vehicle. The remaining victims were customers at the stand, and sources tell Erie News Now that children were among those injured.
Photos and video provided by a nearby witness show significant damage to the Mason Farms stand following the collision.
Pennsylvania State Police from the Girard barracks closed West Lake Road for several hours Saturday evening as troopers processed the scene and worked to reconstruct the crash. Officials have not yet released information about what caused the accident or the extent of the victims’ injuries.
In a statement posted to Facebook, Mason Farms said its “hearts are with our customers who were injured, their families, everyone who witnessed this heartbreaking event, and, of course, our employees, who are understandably shaken.”
The farm said its roadside stand will likely remain closed on Sunday and asked the community to keep everyone affected in their thoughts and prayers.
