Although summer has just begun, the Cranbrook Public Library is seeing a lot of interest in their Summer Reading Club already.
Summer Reading Club Coordinator, Kenzie Fulton thinks 2026 might be a record breaking year for the amount of young readers signed up for the club.

“Already we have over 340 kids signed up, and I’m expecting lots more, especially when the theme for Summer Reading Club is ‘Under the Sea’! We’ve made fun sea creature decorations and hung them all over the library and have planned a summer jam packed with events for kids!” said Fulton.

Cranbrook Public Library has many events planned for young readers this summer including weekly storytime, movie afternoons, Teddy Bear Sleepovers, mini golf, colouring contests, take home crafts and drop in lego. There will also be some appearances from community guests at special events. The majority of these events will be free to attend and won’t require registration.
All children aged 18 and under can sign up for the Summer Reading Club and a free library card. Individuals interested in participating can find Summer Reading Club log books at the Cranbrook Public Library.
There will be prizes for participants based on how many books they read, or the amount of time spent reading, depending on the child’s age and reading level.
There’s still plenty of time to join the Summer Reading Club, which runs until the end of August, and has no deadline for signing up.
