Former Chairman and Ceo of Wawa Dick Wood Jr. has died.
The convenience store chain confirmed that he passed at 88 on Friday.
Wood joined Wawa in 1970 as its first General Counsel and went on to lead the company for more than five decades as President, CEO and Chairman.
Under his leadership, Wawa grew from a regional dairy and store operation into a beloved institution with more than 900 stores across six states.
Wood is survived by his two children.
Next Monday, the convenience store chain will serve free coffees in his honor.
