Travelers looking to speed up the Global Entry enrollment process will have a rare opportunity next month at the Erie International Airport.
While receiving Global Entry approval can take four to six months, one of the final steps is completing an in-person interview. From August 11 until August 13, travelers will be able to complete that requirement during a special three-day Global Entry Interview Event.
Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program designed to make international travel easier for pre-approved, low-risk travelers. Members can move through U.S. Customs more quickly when returning to the United States from abroad, helping reduce wait times at airports.
The enrollment process begins with submitting an online application. Applicants then undergo a federal background check before receiving an invitation to schedule an in-person interview. Depending on demand, that step alone can take weeks or even months.
To participate in the interview event, applicants must have their Global Entry application completed and all required documents submitted before they can be interviewed and fingerprinted.
The Global Entry Interview Event will be held August 11 until August 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Erie Airport.
