PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — While tensions between the U.S. and Iran are pushing gas prices higher across the country, Pennsylvanians are starting to see a price decrease at the pump.

According to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report, this week gas prices are 13 cents lower in Western Pennsylvania at $4.013 per gallon, while the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline went up eight cents over the past week to $3.87.

The average price of unleaded self-serve gasoline in Altoona is $3.802 and $3.870 in DuBois.

While prices are still lower than they were in the spring, the national average as of Monday, July 13 is 72 cents more than a year ago.

Crude oil prices are currently over $70 per barrel as uncertainty lingers along the Strait of Hormuz.
