MONROE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Pennsylvania State Police in Clarion have released details on a crash that claimed the life of a Rimersburg man Wednesday afternoon on Route 68 in Monroe Township.
According to the report, the crash occurred on July 8 at 4:40 p.m. along State Route 68, south of its intersection with Magee Road in Monroe Township, Clarion County.
State police report that Barry E. Kriebel Sr., 70, of Rimersburg, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Route 68 when he attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road and lost control of the vehicle.
The truck’s front passenger tire veered off the right side of the road into the grass, the report stated. The Silverado continued traveling fully off the right side of the roadway before striking a large concrete culvert, according to police.
The report said the impact caused the pickup truck to roll two to three times. Kriebel, who police noted was wearing his seat belt improperly, was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.
According to the report, emergency responders located Kriebel to the right of the vehicle in a cornfield.
Kriebel was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:35 p.m. by Clarion County Chief Deputy Coroner Lexis Twentier. Twentier reported the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.
Assisting state police at the scene were responders from the Sligo Volunteer Fire Department and Southern Clarion EMS.
