Regional Hospital of Scranton is among just 100 hospitals nationwide to receive the American College of Cardiology HeartCARE Center designation, its highest recognition for hospitals and health systems providing cardiovascular care, the local hospital recently announced.

Established in 2018, the HeartCARE Center designation recognizes hospitals that “demonstrate an exceptional commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular care,” officials said in a press release. Regional’s inclusion on the list “reflects its ongoing dedication to advancing cardiovascular care through evidence-based practices, coordinated treatment and continuous performance improvement.”

The release also notes Regional “remains dedicated to investing in innovative technologies, clinical excellence and community-focused care to meet the growing cardiovascular needs of Northeastern Pennsylvania.” The hospital, its nearby Moses Taylor Hospital campus and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital were acquired by the nonprofit Tenor Health Foundation earlier this year.
