Reading Science Center receives $10,000 city grant to assist its “Sisters in STEM” program   | Reading Area

READING, Pa.- The Reading Science Center received a $10,000 grant from the American Association of University Women’s Reading Branch for its “Sisters in STEM” program. 

The weekly program features hands-on experiments and connects female STEM professionals to girls in grades four to six to educate them on science and technology, the Reading Science Center said in a news release. 

“The American Association of University Women and the Reading Science Center share a common mission to expanding access to STEM and inspiring the next generation of girls to explore these fields,” Ralia Vardaxis, Reading Science Center’s Executive Director, said. 

“We believe that fostering a love of science at an early age is the key to future curiosity, innovation and academic success.” 

The Reading Science Center is in Downtown Reading and is open to the public on Mondays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
