Volunteers from Catholic Heart Work Camp were at the Friends of the Poor & Catherine McAuley Center’s furniture bank and home goods warehouse on Fellows Street in Scranton on Wednesday. Catholic Heart is a national organization that hosts weeklong summer mission trips for high school and college students, combining hands-on community service with Catholic spiritual practices, challenging youth to serve the marginalized while deepening their faith. On Tuesday, the volunteers inventoried various items in the warehouse; they spent Wednesday cleaning and painting. On Thursday, they’re scheduled to be at the Friends of the Poor & Catherine McAuley Center’s food warehouse on East Elm Street in Scranton to clean and wash vehicles.
