The Lackawanna County Coroner says a woman from Avoca died after a crash on Friday afternoon near Mt. Cobb.

MT COBB, Pa. — UPDATE 10/13/25:

A woman is dead after a crash in Lackawanna County.

The Lackawanna County Coroner says Alice Coyle, 66, of Avoca, died after she was hit by a tractor-trailer in her SUV at Exit 8 in Jefferson Township around 3 p.m. Friday. 

She was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries.

A traffic alert was placed for drivers in Lackawanna County.

According to PennDOT, a lane restriction was put in place at Exit 8, Mt. Cobb/Hamlin, after a car and van crashed along I-84 East just before 3 p.m. Friday. 

Officials say there are injuries involved. State police were on the scene of the crash.
