Officials have identified a 68-year-old woman who died Tuesday in a house fire in Allentown.
Hanh Phan was pronounced dead about 10:40 a.m. at the scene of a house fire in the 400 block of North Jerome Street, Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said. Phan was pulled from the first floor of the home by city firefighters.
Buglio said her death was caused by inhaling products of combustion and thermal injuries. Her death was accidental, the coroner said.
City firefighters were called to the home about 9:30 a.m. and found fire coming from the side of it. They searched the home and found Phan. The fire went to a second alarm because of the heat and difficulty getting to the fire, the fire department said.
Four firefighters were hospitalized because of minor injuries. They were discharged by Tuesday afternoon.
Crews quickly brought the fire under control. Most of the damage was in the back of the home. The Red Cross is helping the other residents displaced in the fire.
The fire remains under investigation.
