Four Erie County projects will receive $12.5 million in state funding for economic development, public safety and facility improvements, state Reps. Ryan Bizzarro, Pat Harkins and Bob Merski announced Thursday.
The Erie County Convention Center Authority will receive $9.5 million to construct the Bayfront Market House and a surface parking area. The building will include space for seasonal and permanent tenants, two year-round tenants and two public event spaces on the second floor.
Mercyhurst University will receive $2 million to replace failing roof systems at its athletic center.
Federal Resources Corporation was awarded $500,000 to renovate the third floor of the Mercantile Building into a modern office headquarters. The work will include structural reinforcement and new heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical and fire protection systems.
The City of Corry will receive $500,000 toward construction of a new Public Safety Building for its police and fire departments.
The funding comes through Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which supports regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical projects.
