It’s day two of that thick wildfire smoke over western Pennsylvania right now, *** code purple air quality alert in effect for everybody with very unhealthy air that continues to just really choke out *** lot of great conditions here across the region, and we will be dealing with those difficult conditions really all day long. Some of the heaviest snow smoke right now continuing to stream in across western Pennsylvania, so that’s going to block out the sun and obviously impact air quality as well. When will things change? Well, more than likely not until after. Midnight you can start to see across far southwestern Pennsylvania some of that smoke starting to mix out that will continue to again exit the area as we go through tomorrow morning working from southwest to northeast on your Saturday. Tomorrow is an alert day for *** different reason, so air quality remains top of mind. That code purple air quality alert means that it’s going to be difficult no matter how healthy you are, even just *** limited amount of time outside could put *** little extra work on your body and lead to those impacts. There’s ***. Particulate matter in the air that can make it difficult to breathe going forward today. So let’s talk about that dangerous air quality. We’ve been in that very unhealthy range so far today. Yesterday, *** couple of spots got to the hazardous category. That’s when the air quality index exceeds 300. We could see that happening area one as to go through the afternoon. So still the worst of the air quality yet to come as we go through the afternoon again as that smoke moves out after midnight, air quality numbers will start to improve. It will be *** little easier to breathe as we go through the weekend. Tomorrow’s severe weather alert day for *** different reason. The smoke gets washed out, but we are talking about the potential for severe weather through the second half of the day, especially late afternoon through about sundown. I’ll time down, uh, time out those impacts here in just *** second. By far Sunday is the pick day of the weekend. We’ll bring back sunshine. Humidity levels are going to drop. We could start to see some smoke build in at late day, but more than likely it’s going to stay up in the upper parts of the atmosphere. We’re back into the warmth and humidity on Monday with *** high of 85. *** few more showers on Tuesday, but then some bigger changes in your 4 day plus 4 more forecast as temperatures will settle into the upper 70s as you look ahead to late next week. Let’s talk about tomorrow’s severe weather alert day. Are wide scattered risk for strong and severe thunderstorms, damaging winds and flash flooding 1 and 2 when it comes to our severe risks. We also can’t overlook *** brief tornado that is *** change from yesterday. That risk is low but not zero. Let’s talk about the timing. Waking up in the morning, things are going to be fine. He has some running around to do. You’re looking good through about 120. That’s what some widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop. Models have had *** hard time with these individual storms really starting to get some of that action going as you go throughout the day. Not much agreement, but what we have seen consistent agreement on is this line that will show up after 4 o’clock, dropping south from Lake Erie, first impacting the. I-80 corridor getting closer to the city of Pittsburgh, more than likely just as the sun is starting to set. We still have enough time though to see some of those storms get supercharged, producing damaging winds, that flash flooding risk too, and concerns for *** brief tornado. In the meantime, it’s all about that wildfire smoke really blocking out our view of downtown Pittsburgh with that haze hanging in the air. We’ll keep our temperatures held back into the mid to upper 80s, but still feeling plenty steamy here as we wrap up the work week.

Pittsburgh police said they are looking for a 39-year-old woman who has been reported missing.”Sanchazerae Coleman last had contact with her mother on June 15, 2026 and was reported missing shortly thereafter,” the city’s public safety department said in a statement Friday.Coleman is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Pittsburgh police said they are looking for a 39-year-old woman who has been reported missing.
“Sanchazerae Coleman last had contact with her mother on June 15, 2026 and was reported missing shortly thereafter,” the city’s public safety department said in a statement Friday.
Coleman is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Police said she is known to frequent the Hill District and Uptown, including De Ruad Street, Moultrie Street and Centre Avenue.
Anyone who has information about Coleman is asked to contact police at 412-323-7141 or call 911.
