SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Opening day at the Co-Op Farmers’ Market brought hundreds of people out for fresh fruit, vegetables, and more.

Dozens of vendors displayed freshly grown food and plants.

Many families make it a tradition to stop by each year, they say it’s something for the family to look back on, and a way to support local farmers.

 Parish bazaar serves as important fundraiser 

“These farmers work very, very hard. They don’t charge a lot for their goods here, and it’s all home-grown, and it couldn’t be any better, really. It’s like having your own garden right here for sale without having to do all the work,” Fred Jospeph of Dickson City said.

The Farmers’ Market is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through Thanksgiving Eve.
