State police from the Hamburg station said they plan to conduct stepped-up DUI enforcement as well as a sobriety checkpoint in the upcoming weekends in northern Berks County.
The increased patrols will try to spot drivers who exhibit signs of impairment from alcohol or drugs, troopers said.
The aim of the initiative is to curtail the number of people killed or seriously injured from alcohol- or drug-related crashes, they said.
