ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – Albany police said a Bethlehem man was arrested after a stabbing on Madison Avenue left a 23-year-old man injured.

According to an Albany Police Department release, 30-year-old Chance Niccoli was taken into custody at the scene after officers responded around noon Saturday, July 18, to the Lucky Cat Laundromat at 133 Madison Avenue.

Police said officers found a 23-year-old man with a cut on his forehead. Investigators said they later determined Niccoli stabbed him in the head with a machete.

The victim was treated at the scene by the Albany Fire Department and emergency medical crews, then taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Niccoli was charged with one count of attempted murder in the second degree. Police said he is scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Sunday morning.
