ALLENTOWN, Pa. – PPL says having an emergency plan in place can help keep families safe when storms bring strong winds, heavy rain, or possible power outages.
“We encourage our customers to always make sure that you have an emergency plan,” said Kelly Palmer, the Regional Affairs Director for PPL.
Palmer says preparation is key before a storm hits. She also provided an update on how Saturday’s storm affected power across the area.
“Our crews are actively responding to outages and damage caused by today’s thunderstorms and strong winds,” Palmer said.
Along with restoring power that has already been lost, Palmer says PPL has activated its storm response plans to make sure crews are ready to respond quickly if additional issues occur.
“We are positioning on call crews in the field in our control centers and our customer service centers for a rapid response,” Palmer said.
PPL recommends residents take simple steps before severe weather arrives, including charging phones and electronic devices, preparing an emergency kit with essential supplies, and checking on neighbors who may need extra assistance.
If the power does go out, PPL says customers can stay updated by signing up for alerts and checking outage information online.
