Donald F. & Margaret P. Miller
OBITUARY
Donald Floyd Miller (December 23, 1924 – July 14, 2011) and Margaret Pearl (Adams) Miller (October 7, 1928 – March 4, 2026), formerly of Berks County, Pennsylvania, and later of Newark, Delaware, and Hendersonville, Tennessee, are lovingly remembered for their remarkable life together. Donald passed away on July 14, 2011, and Margaret passed away on March 4, 2026, both in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Donald and Margaret were both born and raised in Berks County, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Muhlenberg Township High School during the 1940s. They married following Donald’s return from military service and shared a devoted marriage while raising their family.
Donald proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class aboard the USS Langley (CVL-27), serving with Task Force 38.3 and Carrier Air Group 44, where he supported Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bomber operations throughout the Pacific Theater. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Lehigh University and began a distinguished career as a mechanical engineer with DuPont, where he worked until his retirement.
Together, Donald and Margaret built their home first in Newark, Delaware, before retiring to Hendersonville, Tennessee, on Old Hickory Lake. They especially enjoyed spending time outdoors with family and friends at Maiden Creek and Bernhart Reservoir in Berks County, camping, snow skiing, playing tennis, boating, and embracing “lake life” on Old Hickory Lake. Their greatest joy, however, was raising their four children and watching their family grow through succeeding generations.
Donald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elwood E. and Rosa M. (Oxenreider) Miller, and Charles H. and Katherine (Kantner) Haag; his parents, Floyd E. and Edna Irene (Haag) Miller; his aunts, Lillian (Curtis) Good, Blanche (Allen) Haag, and Evelyn (Clarence) Searfoss; his brother, Clair Richard Miller; and his daughter-in-law, Janice Gayle Resener Miller.
Margaret was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thomas Ganser and Pearl Minerva (Keller) Adams, and Charles Jr. and Katie (Hinkle) Hall; her parents, Charles Elwood and Elizabeth (Hall) Adams; her uncles, William Keller Adams, Edwin Thomas Adams, and Charles Hall; her aunts, Pearl Minerva Adams and Stella Hall; her brother, Kenneth Elwood Adams; her daughter-in-law, Janice Gayle Resener Miller; and her niece, Kathy Wolford Lane.
Donald and Margaret are survived by their children, Randall Donald Miller and wife Katherine Elizabeth “Kai” Gallagher; Lori Ann Miller; David Todd Miller and wife Linda Ann Meyers Miller; and Douglas Charles Miller. They are also survived by their grandchildren, Drew Elizabeth Miller; Erin Ann (Thomas) Baugh; Kathryne Childrey (Robert) Webster; Aaron Shane (LeGenna) Miller; Charles Douglas Miller; and Laura Louise (Jordan) Stockett; great-grandchildren Carl Miller, Miller Henry Solesbee, and Keller Avant Baugh; niece Debbie Adams Anderson; and nephews Mike Miller, Jeff Miller, Greg Adams, and Ross Wolford, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
A graveside service celebrating the lives of Donald and Margaret Miller will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Shalter’s Union Church Cemetery, 2032 Mount Laurel Road, Fleetwood, Pennsylvania.
Together they built a life defined by faith, family, service, hard work, and enduring love. Their legacy lives on through the generations they nurtured and the many lives they touched.
