Pennsylvania State Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the owners of two pickup trucks that may have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Interstate 79 last weekend.
According to State Police in Girard, troopers were dispatched around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, to the southbound lanes of I-79 near the 176-mile marker for reports of a pedestrian who had been struck in the roadway.
Investigators believe a Ford pickup truck may have hit the pedestrian and then left the scene. Police are trying to identify the owners of two pickup trucks that were seen entering I-79 southbound around the time of the crash.
Anyone with information that could help identify the vehicles or assist with the investigation is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police in Girard at 814-774-9611.
The victim, 42-year-old Benjamin Kachick of Lake City, died from blunt force trauma. The investigation remains ongoing.
