SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — After days of working to repair a water main break in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania American Water issued a water boil advisory early Sunday morning.
According to a PA American Water representative, crews experienced a loss in positive water pressure Sunday, which means contamination could enter the system. The loss of pressure is because of a Thursday night water main break near the intersection of North Washington Avenue and Mulberry Street.
Work has continued on the main break since Thursday night, and the representative estimates the repairs will be completed Sunday night. After repairs are completed, the boil advisory will remain in place until tests on the water are complete.

Around 620 customers are affected by the break. The following Scranton streets are included in the boil advisory:

While under the boil advisory, PA American Water customers are recommended to boil all water before use. For clean water, customers can go to water tankers on North Washington Avenue and at the Scranton Fire Department on Mulberry Street.
