After more than a week of high temperatures and a Saturday marked by booming thunderstorms, heavy rain and warnings of other extreme weather, the Lehigh Valley is due for a break.
It’s getting it, at least for a couple of unusually mild days.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will be sunny with a high near 81 degrees, below the average 87 degrees on this date. Winds will be mild to strong, averaging around 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph possible. The evening will also be cool with low winds.
Monday should look very much like Sunday, with a chance of showers in the evening.
Thanks to western winds that started Saturday, the smoke and haze that filled the Lehigh Valley should also be mostly gone.
However, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely Tuesday, with total rainfall up to 1.5 inches possible. Showers and thunderstorms may persist into Wednesday.
