The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins started the season off as one of the best teams, going 7-0-0-0 before a loss to Providence last Wednesday. They ended October with an 8-1-0-0 record. The Penguins’ hot start was led by goalie Sergei Murashov, who was named AHL Player of the Week just last week. Now, Murashov is named AHL Goalie of the Month after he went 5-1-0 with a 1.68 goals-against average, a .935 save percentage, and a shutout. The 21-year-old is currently 5-2-0 with a 1.73 goals-against average, a .931 save percentage, and a shutout. The Penguins play again tomorrow night against the Toronto Marlies at home, with puck drop set for 7:00 PM EST.

Sergei Murashov
Murashov joined the Penguins organization in 2024-25. He played in 26 games for the Wheeling Nailers, going 17-7-1. He posted a 2.40 goals-against average, a .922 save percentage, and a shutout. In three Kelly Cup Playoff games, he went 0-3-0 with a 3.82 goals-against average and an .857 save percentage. He also appeared in 16 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, going 12-3-0. Murashov had a 2.64 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage, and a shutout. He also made one appearance in the Calder Cup Playoffs, stopping 28 of the 31 shots he faced in a loss.
